The person on the bed is Pinocchio. The character's caricature supports this through the illustration of a long nose and wooden body that is associated with Pinocchio.
The humour in the cartoon is created through Pinocchio wanting to understand why his nose grows, rather than dealing with the issue of why he lies. The nose growing(the symptom) is a result of his lies(cause), but clearly he is in denial. -Zoe Abrahams
